The Groups

2 Girls and a Boyd

“Two Girls & a Boyd” was born out of a love for rich, complex vocal harmonies.  These veterans of stage and studio combined forces to create an exciting and rich live musical experience.  The original trio, featuring vocalists Mary Jane Alm and Aimée Lee and guitarist/vocalist Boyd Lee performed for the first time under this name in late 2017 to immediate critical acclaim.  Shortly thereafter, vocalist and mandolin guru Richard Kriehn of A Prairie Home Companion fame joined the group, throwing down smokin’ hot instrumental solos amidst lush and expressive vocals.  And just recently added comes Noah Hoehn; a monster Harmonica and Percussion talent unlike any other.

The Mary Jane Alm Band

Mary Jane Alm and the band have had, and are still having, a great ride. They have opened shows for countless national acts. They recorded at Paisley Park, Creation, Cookhouse and numerous other great studios in Minneapolis with Tom Tucker, Peter Johnson, Scott Malchow and some other big shot from Nashville and most recently, with Grammy award winner, Steve Hodge, who produced, engineered, mixed and mastered her newest record, "Me and the Wild Blue".

The Mary Jane Alm Band is; Boyd Lee on acoustic guitar and vocals, Gordy Johnson on bass, Scooter Nelson on percussion and vocals and Brian Peters on guitar and pedal steel. They are the absolute best!

The Tex Pistols Band

The Tex Pistols Band couldn't be much further from Texas, and nobody in the band is from Texas, but that doesn't stop these four Minneapolis vets of stage and studio from producing some seriously kick butt music. The sound is classic yet new all at once. From Neil Young to John Hiatt, Steve Earle to Steve Winwood, throw in some Eagles and Beatles and stir in a little jam band and you get "Fully Loaded", the debut release from Minneapolis based Tex Pistols Band.

The group was formed as a side project in 1986 by Brian C. Peters (electric guitars, pedal steel, dobro), Dik Shopteau (bass, vocals), and Scott "Scooter" Nelson (vocals, drums, percussion). The band toured extensively throughout the Midwest before hangin' up their guns in 1990. In late 2007 the band decided to take it to the next level of seriousness and reformed with a newly acquired transplant from St. Louis, Mr. Boyd Lee (vocals, acoustic guitar). They quickly discovered that they were either on to something... or just on something. Turns out they were on to something special and within a month of rehearsals and gigs, plans were made to start writing and recording the first CD. Their efforts paid off into one the most talked about recordings in the Twin Cities in years.

Aimée & Boyd Lee

So as you can see, Aimee is in pretty much all my musical endeavors.  And that’s due to the fact that we met many years ago doing a recording for our friend Gwen Matthews.  I fell hard for her that day and after a few years of dating and falling madly in love we got married.  Best decision of my life bar none!  We work together often and absolutely love all our projects.  As a duet, we’ve done countless shows, although not that much anymore.  But we’re still available so don’t hesitate to reach out!

Love ya babe…see ya at the next show.

Oh, and at home…duh!
